Anyi Rao is an Assistant Professor at HKUST and Associate Director of the Media Intelligence Research Center. His research pioneers Human-AI collaborative intelligence, focusing on controllable video generation and agentic AI. He is the creator of foundational models including ControlNet and AnimateDiff, which bridge generative AI with precise structural control—a core theme of this course. His work has won the ICCV Marr Prize and recognized in Forbes 30 Under 30. He previously organized SIGGRAPH courses on generative models and serves as an Area Chair for SIGGRAPH Asia.
