Shoko Kimura is a Program-Specific Assistant Professor at the Hakubi Center for Advanced Research, Kyoto University, starting in 2026. She received her Doctor of Engineering degree from the Department of Architecture and Design, Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan, in 2024. She received her B.Eng. from Nihon University in 2009 and her M.S. from the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 2021.

Her current research interests include support for mental health, autism, and developmental disabilities, calm-relax environments, inclusion, digital rehabilitation, digital fabrication, media art, and interaction design.

Previously, she worked as a Researcher at Yamagata University from 2015 to 2016, as an Academic Specialist and Technician at The University of Tokyo from 2021 to 2023, as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Intelligent Information Technology, Aoyama Gakuin University, from 2023 to 2025, and as a Project Researcher at Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan, from 2025 to 2026.

Her earlier research also included human-computer interaction (HCI), affective engineering, and facial expression and emotion. Across these areas, her work is consistently oriented toward the realization of an inclusive society.
