Toshitaka Amaoka is currently a Professor in the School of Information Science at Meisei University. He received an M.S. in Earth Environmental Science from Hokkaido University in 1996, where he conducted research in oceanography, an MPS from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University in 2002, and a Ph.D. from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2011.
His concepts and approaches are grounded in scientific inquiry and consistently translate scientific thinking into artistic expression. Drawing on his background in oceanography and environmental science, he has developed a unique artistic perspective that connects natural phenomena with human perception and sensibility. Currently, his research explores advanced aesthetic and perceptual representations through computer-based and new media approaches at the intersection of art, science, and emerging technologies.
