Arnav Jhala is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at North Carolina State University, where he co-directs the Digital Games Research Initiative. His research focuses on the computational modeling of narrative intelligence, interactive simulations, and artificial intelligence in games. He develops symbolic and probabilistic methods to represent and generate visual narratives, exploring how AI can facilitate human creativity and interaction in digital media. Previously, he was a founding faculty member in the Department of Computational Media at UC Santa Cruz and has held research positions at the USC Institute for Creative Technologies and the Indian Space Research Organization.
