Raitis Smits is an artist working at the intersection of art, science, and immersive technologies. He is a professor at the Art Academy of Latvia, co-founder of the Riga-based RIXC Center for New Media Culture and curator of RIXC Art Science Festival . In his artistic practice, working together with Rasa Smite, he explores ecological processes, climate change, and AI–nature relations through immersive and data-driven artworks developed in collaboration with scientists. His artworks have been widely exhibited internationally and received awards and nominations, including Prix Ars Electronica and Falling Walls – Science Breakthrough in Art and Science.
