We're All In This Together: The Making Of Disney and Pixar's Hoppers
DescriptionCreating the world of Hoppers required reconciling three potentially incompatible visual goals: the graphic clarity needed for broad comedy, the controlled lighting and staging required for suspense, and the rich, observational beauty of nature photography. Rather than choosing between stylization and realism, the filmmakers built a collaborative, cross-departmental pipeline that allowed physical behavior and artistic design to coexist in every shot.
This production session presents the making of that hybrid visual language and the teamwork that made it possible. Artists and technologists from production design, sets, layout, characters, crowds, FX, simulation, lighting, compositing, and tools worked in tight feedback loops to build a hybrid visual language where physical simulation anchors the world, and artistically directed stylization shapes how we see it.
