10. Motion-Faithful Denoising for Dynamic Facial Scan Sequences
SessionPosters: 3D & Geometry
DescriptionHigh-fidelity dynamic facial scans are essential to modern film VFX, but they suffer from tracking jitter — a subtle frame-to-frame shaking that appears when each frame is captured and registered independently. Standard denoisers can't fix it: they either ignore time or blur away the very expressions that make a performance believable. We introduce a motion-adaptive bilateral temporal filter that smooths along the time axis while letting local motion preserve fast expressions. It removes jitter, cutting temporal error by up to 76% over uniform filters, and drops straight into existing production pipelines.
