Designing Interfaces for Aphantasia
DescriptionAphantasia affects how people use interfaces that assume visual memory, mental imagery, or the ability to “picture” a previous state. This Birds of a Feather session will discuss UI design patterns that make software more accessible for people who do not visualize internally: persistent previews, visible history, explicit labels, side-by-side comparisons, concrete examples, saved states, clearer spatial cues, and reduced reliance on memory-based workflows. The goal is to identify practical design guidelines for creative tools, AI tools, visualization software, and everyday applications.
