OMBI: Open Standards for the Metaverse Browser
DescriptionAR glasses are arriving. Airports, hospitals, logistics centers, and universities are already planning spatial deployments, but the open infrastructure layer that makes it all work doesn't exist yet. The Open Metaverse Browser Initiative (OMBI), a Metaverse Standards Forum initiative seeded by RP1's operational prototype, is building that layer: an open-source Metaverse Browser Engine (Sneeze) that connects any device to spatial services on demand, on open standards from Khronos, W3C, and OGC, with no proprietary lock-in. This BOF brings together industry contributors to walk through the architecture, share progress, and ensure the AR hardware race produces a genuinely open spatial web.
